Barbara meets children and families in Every Disabled Child Matters Campaign
Barbara attended the launch of the Every Disabled Child Matters (EDCM) latest campaign for children with disabilities and their families. The event marked the launch of EDCM’s new briefing ‘Disabled children: an agenda for the new Government’ which presents evidence of what disabled children and their families want local areas and central Government to do to ensure they can lead ordinary lives. It calls upon the Conservative Liberal Democrat Government to make an early commitment to a national vision for children with disabilities and their families. Barbara said: “Many parent carers in Worsley and Eccles South had asked me to attend this event to show my continued support for the Every Disabled Child Matters Campaign. “Parents want to see services for their children working in partnership with them as parents and carers. Families need a clear entitlement to a minimum level of support and a passport through the system. Above all, they want a level playing field with other families. “I hope the Conservative Liberal Democrat Government will take parents’ comments on board and continue to build on the excellent Every Disabled Child Matters campaign created by parents and the Labour Government.”
