Barbara switches on to climate change challenge by switching off for WWF’s Earth Hour

Barbara signed up to WWF’s Earth Hour and pledged to turn off the lights for an hour on 27 March. Barbara held a giant light bulb symbolising the ‘Eureka moment’ as she signed up to the campaign to show she is switched on to climate change.

WWF’s Earth Hour is a global initiative that calls on individuals, businesses, iconic landmarks and local authorities to switch off their lights for one hour on Saturday 27 March 2010 from 8.30pm to show they care about people and wildlife threatened by climate change.

Barbara said:

“I support strong action to combat climate change and have signed up to WWF’s Earth Hour campaign to help send a powerful visual message about the need for international action to tackle climate change.

“I have supported this campaign over the last few years and will once again be switching off the lights in my home and my office. I encourage Salford Council, local businesses and other people in Worsley and Eccles South to switch off their lights to show that they support efforts to tackle climate change.”
