In September Barbara invited pupils from primary schools across Worsley and Eccles South constituency to take part in her 2011 Christmas Card Competition. The winner of this year’s competition is Joseph Davies from Christ the King RC Primary School, Walkden.
Barbara and Julia Fawcett, Chief Executive of The Lowry, visited Christ the King school to present Joseph with the first prize.
“I was delighted to award first prize to Joseph. His Nativity scene design has been printed in full colour and is being used as my official Christmas card for 2011. The standard of entries from our local schools was high and I was pleased that Julia Fawcett joined me to judge the entries and to find a winner and three runners-up.
“Julia and I were pleased to meet Joseph and his parents and I would like to congratulate Joseph for his wonderful design. The designs of the runners up, Mia Wynn from St Paul’s CE Primary School, Heathside Grove; Emily Brady from Boothstown Methodist Primary School and Matthew White from St Mary’s CE Primary School, Cadishead were also very good and they feature on the back of the Christmas card.
“I would like to thank all the teachers who encouraged their pupils to take part in the competition. I would also like to thank Julia Fawcett and The Lowry for supporting the competition also the other sponsors who provided prizes- Namco Station, Laser Quest and Norton Villiers.
“Thanks and well done to everyone across Worsley and Eccles South who took part in or supported the competition.”
Julia Fawcett, Chief Executive of The Lowry, Joseph Davies, Mr and Mrs Davies and Barbara
