Barbara met Emma Billington and Louise Fields from Irlam to congratulate them on receiving an award from the International Fund for Animal Welfare for work at their ‘Dogs4Rescue’ sanctuary.

An event was held in Parliament by the International Fund for Animal Welfare to make awards to people from across the country who have made a significant contribution to improving animal welfare.

Emma and Louise founded the not for profit organisation ‘Dogs4Rescue’ in 2013. The organisation fosters and rehomes street dogs which have been abused.

Barbara said:

I would like to congratulate Emma and Louise on receiving this award in recognition of the work they have undertaken to improve the welfare of dogs in the UK and abroad. It is great that Emma and Louise got this nationwide recognition for their work.

The award recognises that Dogs4Rescue is making a positive change to the lives of many animals. Getting an award from the International Fund for Animal Welfare should help ensure that Dogs4Rescue gets the recognition it deserves for its work on animal welfare.”

Emma said:

"Dogs4Rescue provides a cage free environment for abused dogs before they are settled into new homes around Salford and Manchester. Rehoming these dogs is a team effort, all the staff at the sanctuary and our partner charities abroad work incredibly hard to provide the dogs with the care and support they need.

I am really proud of this award as it recognises the hard work that everyone has put in to improve the lives of dogs across many different countries."
