Barbara welcomes the launch of Eccles Street Pastors in Eccles town centre

Barbara recently visited St Andrews Church in Eccles to meet the Vicar of St Andrews and Christ Church, Anne-Louise Critchlow, and volunteers who will soon be working as Eccles Street Pastors.

The Street Pastors will officially launch their work in Eccles and Monton town centres at an event at Eccles Parish Church at 7.30pm on Monday 27th February. After this, groups of volunteer Street Pastors plan to go out onto streets on Fridays and Saturdays to be a reassuring presence in the town centre.

Barbara said:

“It was good to hear about the work that Eccles Street Pastors will be undertaking soon on streets in the town centre on Friday or Saturday nights. Their aim is to bring greater cohesion to the community and to support those who may be in difficulty – such as people working in shops suffering intimidation from groups gathering outside.

“I hope their presence will be a positive change for the good in our town centres and I wish Eccles Street Pastors all the best for their launch on 27th February and their work on future weekends.”
