Salford MPs urge local veterans to come forward to claim Veteran’s Badge

Barbara and Rebecca Long-Bailey MP are calling on Salford servicemen and women who served in the armed forces to come forward to see whether they are eligible to claim a Veteran’s Badge.

Anyone who has served in any of the UK armed forces is eligible for a Veterans Badge. The commemorative badge is presented in recognition of service and can be worn on civilian attire.

The Salford MPs will be presenting a number of the Veterans Badges at an Armed Forces Day event taking place during the Winton Festival on Saturday 25th June at Winton Park.

To check eligibility and to apply for a Veterans’ Badge please contact either Barbara Keeley MP’s office on 0161 799 4159 or Rebecca Long-Bailey MP’s office on 0161 425 3738.

Both MPs are only able to issue the badges to veterans who live in their constituencies. Postcodes can be checked via the following link:

Barbara said:

“It is a real honour to present Veterans Badges to our brave servicemen and women in Salford.

“Britain owes our veterans a debt of gratitude for their service. The Veterans Badge is a good way to recognise the contribution that their service made to our country and to offer thanks for their efforts.

“I hope that local veterans do come forward and apply for a badge and I look forward to meeting them during the presentation on 25th June at Winton Festival.”

Rebecca Long-Bailey MP said:

"I want our Salford veterans to realise how proud and indebted we all are for their service in those dark days of war, and the conflicts that have happened since, and I fervently believe that this small badge really is a token of esteem from a grateful nation.

“I am privileged to be able to present their Veterans Badges at what will be an occasion for celebration and gratitude and I look forward to the presentation.”
