Barbara has pledged her support for fair access to end of life care.

Barbara attended an event at Westminster run by Marie Curie, to raise awareness of the need for good quality end of life care. At the event she met a palliative care nurse and Marie Curie supporter Jon Culshaw, who was there to help promote Marie Curie’s work.

Barbara said:

“Marie Curie and our hospices help to provide good end of life care for local people. I want to work towards the aim that quality end of life care is available for everyone who needs it.”

“Unfortunately, there is not enough good quality end of life care. Marie Curie have found than one in four people each year who need palliative care miss out because their needs are not recognised and they are not referred to the right services.”

“I want to work towards the aim that everyone can get the care and support they need, whether that is at home, at hospital or in a hospice. In my role as Shadow Care Minister I will campaign for better access to end of life care. I want people who need end of life care to know that the right kind of support and care will be available when they need it.”
