Barbara says that David Cameron and the Conservative-led Government are running scared of talking to the public about their policies.

At Prime Minister’s Questions this week, Barbara asked David Cameron to answer the question of whether he intended to be at the two-way leaders debate set for April 30th.  For the third time in the 30-minute question session, David Cameron avoided answering the straightforward question about appearing at the TV debate.

Conservatives have also avoided any proper consultation or debate with the public about their controversial proposals to devolve NHS and social care budgets to their proposed elected mayor in Greater Manchester.

Barbara said:

“It is not good enough that David Cameron avoided answering my question and is now seen to be running scared of a head-to-head debate with Ed Miliband during the General Election campaign.”

“Voters in Worsley and Eccles South will draw their own conclusions about a party leader who refuses to debate his record and his policies head-to-head.

This Conservative-led Government also has a disturbing tendency to avoid consultation with and involvement of the people most affected by their policies.”
