£190 cash boost for every new mum in Salford

Barbara is delighted that all mums-to-be in Salford who are at least 25 weeks pregnant will get a £190 tax-free 'Health in Pregnancy Grant' from the Government from April 2009.

Welcoming the cash boost, Barbara said:

"Having a baby is an exciting time for mums and their families. Whether it's a first baby or another child there is a lot of planning to do and many things to get sorted. This can sometimes put the family finances under strain – everything from getting a pushchair to stocking up on nappies or baby clothes means there is more to pay for.

"That’s why I’m proud that the Government is taking action to help people during these tough times – a £190 tax-free cash boost will make a real difference to new mums in Salford. To get the grant, mums-to-be will need to get a claim form from their midwife or doctor and I would urge them to do this as soon as possible.”
