Barbara Keeley MP

LABOUR MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT FOR WORSLEY AND ECCLES SOUTH

Barbara backs ‘Know Your Numbers” blood pressure campaign

Barbara had her blood pressure checked by staff at the Sides Medical Centre in Worsley in support of the Blood Pressure Association’s ‘Know Your Numbers!’ campaign (7-13 September).

One in three adults in the UK have high blood pressure, yet many don’t realise they have the condition because it has no visible symptoms. If untreated, high blood pressure can cause strokes and major heart problems. However, once diagnosed, the condition can be successfully managed by pursuing a healthier lifestyle.

By supporting the campaign, Barbara wants to encourage people in Salford and her Worsley constituency to get their blood pressure tested so that high blood pressure can be detected early and treated.

Barbara said:

“I’d like to thank the staff at Tims and Parker Pharmacy for testing my blood pressure last week. Having your blood pressure checked is very quick and painless and I would like to urge everyone to pop along to their local health centre to get tested."

“Some people in Salford will have high blood pressure without being aware or realising the impact this might have on their health. By supporting the ‘Know your Numbers!’ campaign, I want to raise awareness of high blood pressure and how it can be managed by leading a healthier lifestyle.”
