Barbara backs Pay and Work Rights Helpline

cleaner helplineBarbara is backing a new helpline that will provide help and advice for workers and employers.

The new Government helpline has been launched by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and the number to call is 0800 917 2368.

Barbara said:

“The helpline has been set up so that both workers and employers can call in confidence for information and advice on pay, hours and deductions.  It provides a ‘one stop shop’ to workers and employers on a number of employment rights.

“I would encourage both workers and employers in Worsley Constituency who would like help with any of these issues to call the helpline on 0800 917 2368 or alternatively the text phone number 0800 121 4042.

“The helpline is open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 1pm on a Saturday.”

What services will the helpline and website provide?

It will handle queries and provide enforcement support regarding certain employment rights relating to pay, hours and deductions.  The employment rights in question are:

  • National Minimum Wage
  • Agricultural Minimum Wage
  • Working Time (48 hour average working week)
  • Employment agency standards
  • Gangmaster licensing

How does this helpline interact with other helplines?

This helpline offers advice on certain employment rights – see above for more information. 

All other employment rights like paid holidays and rest breaks and health and safety at work are the responsibility of the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service – telephone 08457 474747.
