Barbara is supporting an energy switch scheme that will help local people get a better deal on their energy bills.
Salford City Council has joined with the other Greater Manchester councils to develop the Greater Manchester Fair Energy switching scheme, which could save households an average annual saving of £250 off their energy bills.
On 29th January the first of four online energy auctions will take place with UK energy providers. The providers will be offered the chance to supply gas and electricity to people from across the area who have signed up to the scheme. The best value provider will be chosen and each person who has signed up will receive a personalised offer letter, which they can choose to accept or decline.
“This is a great initiative that will help local people and their families at a time when many are really struggling to find the money to pay for increasing household bills.
“I would urge anyone who is interested in finding out more about the scheme, or who would like to register to take part, to go to the website at www.gmfairenergy.com. Alternatively you can call 0800 009 3363.
“The closing date to register to take part is Monday 28th January 2013.”
