Barbara backs Save our Sundays campaign

USDAW's campaign to stop the move to extend Sunday trading hours has received broad support from MPs and members of the public.

The pressure for many workers to work on a Sunday already causes a level of disruption in family life and achieving a healthy work/life balance.

"Longer hours are already permitted on Bank Holidays" say Heather Morris and Debbie Davidson of USDAW, "changes have been introduced on Boxing Day, Good Friday and Easter Monday - we used to be closed - we are now open."

Barbara said:

"I am happy to give my support to the USDAW campaign to keep Sunday trading restricted to the current limit of six hours. I am unhappy that shops are opening for browsing periods and already stretching the spirit of law as it stands. I would not be pleased to see these further changes take place."
