Barbara commemorates 60th Anniversary of VJ Day

On Sunday 21st August Barbara joined the Mayor of Salford, veterans from Worsley and many hundreds of others in Salford's commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of VJ Day.

After the church service and laying of wreaths at the Cenotaph, Barbara met with veterans of the Worsley and District Burma Star Association (pictured).

Barbara commented:

"It was a privilege to be at this service to honour those who fought for our freedom in the Far East. I am so pleased that such a number of veterans from the Worsley and District Burma Star Association marched in the parade to honour their comrades.

"We will always remember the sacrifice of all those who fought in World War Two and be grateful for that sacrifice, which brought us our freedom"
