Barbara Hosts Meeting with US Congresswomen

Barbara welcomed a group of US Congresswomen to Parliament, where they met with Barbara and a number of women MPs.

The US delegation was headed by Congresswoman Lois Capps, co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on Women's Issues, who had crossed the Atlantic to attend a conference on making maternity safer for women in developing countries. After the conference they had a brief tour of Parliament before meeting with Barbara and the group of women MPs to share opinions and experience on a wide range of issues.

Barbara said:

"We had a really useful discussion on a variety of issues such as human trafficking, care issues and health care. Some of our services are very different but we had the chance to exchange ideas. It is really useful to talk to elected members from other countries and we agreed to keep in touch and work together on certain issues."
