Barbara Keeley MP backs Women’s Lacrosse World Cup Bid

Bk Women's lacrosse teamBarbara attended the launch in Westminster of the English Lacrosse Association’s bid for England to host the 2017 Women’s World Cup. 

30 nations are expected to compete in the Women’s World Lacrosse Cup 2017 and it will be the biggest ever women’s lacrosse event. Lacrosse is a growing sport, with a 52% increase  in the number of girls and women participating in the sport plus a 53% increase in community volunteers in the sport.

Barbara said:

“I am keen to see more girls and women take part in sport and lacrosse is gaining in popularity, with more places to play the sport in Greater Manchester.”

“England’s success in the bid will be an important step in raising the profile of the sport and will hopefully result in more women playing and volunteering for lacrosse.  I wish the English Lacrosse Association every success with its bid to host the World Cup.”
