Barbara Keeley MP

Barbara meets with lung cancer nurses

Barbara met lung cancer specialist nurses from across the North West to hear about the valuable work they do in supporting patients with the disease.

The nurses were in Westminster on the eve of November’s Lung Cancer Awareness Month to call on the Government to ensure every lung cancer patient has access to a specialist lung cancer nurse.

Barbara said:

“Around 2300 people in my constituency are diagnosed with lung cancer each year. I have no doubt that having access to a specialist nurse, like Maria, can make a world of difference for patients and their families.

“They do valuable work to support patients at the difficult times in their illness when they need specialist help most. I was pleased to hear that Salford Royal has two lung cancer specialist nurses. I support the idea of increasing the numbers of specialist nurse so that more patients could have the dedicated advice and care they need.”
