Barbara Keeley MP

LABOUR MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT FOR WORSLEY AND ECCLES SOUTH

Barbara pays tribute to Rose Woods

Barbara attended an event in Atherton to mark the retirement of Rose Woods, who is leaving Atherton Pre School Day Care after 39 years.

The event was attended by children from the pre school group, as well as by local Atherton councillors Norman Bradbury and Karen Aldred, Atherton community activist Elnur Ysifzade and by members of Rose’s family.

Barbara, Norman and the staff of the centre marked the occasion by paying tribute to her role at the play group over the years through speeches and the presentation of gifts from both staff and children. Barbara paid homage to Rose’s work in a speech thanking her for her hard work and dedication through the years.

Barbara said:

“Rose’s dedication to the pre school day care group has been truly remarkable. She developed this pre school day care centre in times when there was little financial support for such organisations. Over the past 10 years, the Government has recognised and supported the importance of support for the Early Years and the Atherton Pre School Day Care centre is flourishing. Rose's work and commitment have made a real difference to the lives of very many families in Atherton and she will be missed by the staff, children and parents. I was honoured to pay tribute to her and wish her well in her retirement.”
