Barbara recycles Christmas cards to help fund tree planting

Barbara has helped the Woodland Trust to fund tree planting by recycling her Christmas cards at Tesco in Walkden.

Barbara said:

“I would like to encourage local people to recycle their cards throughout the month of January by putting them in recycling bins at Tesco or at WHSmith,TK Maxx and Marks & Spencer stores, which are all taking part in the scheme.

“All the cards collected during the campaign will be taken to paper mills where they are recycled into brand new paper products. This will help raise money for the Woodland Trust, the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity, who will plant thousands of trees with the money raised.

“I believe additional trees can make a real difference to the environment - last year 73.6 million cards were recycled nationally, which enabled the Woodland Trust to plant 17,000 extra trees in 1,000 different woods around the UK.”
