Barbara supports campaign for a nursery at Mesne Lea Primary School

BK MEN 2Barbara is supporting a campaign by parents who are calling for a nursery at Mesne Lea Primary school in Walkden.

Barbara has joined forces with local campaigners who are urging Salford Council to reconsider its earlier decision not to allow a nursery at the primary school in Walkden.

Barbara said:

“There is a real need for a nursery at Mesne Lea Primary School and the school has the space for one to be created. I believe there is a great deal of support in the local area for this campaign.

“A nursery at Mesne Lea School would make life a lot easier for parents and would also make the transition from nursery to reception class for children at the school a lot smoother. The lack of a nursery at the school is also an inconvenience for those parents who have to get their children to school at different places at the same time.

“I cannot understand why Salford Council has refused to allow the school to open a nursery. I will be writing to the council to ask that they reconsider this decision. Every 3 and 4 year old child has a right to a local nursery place and I want to make sure these places are created where they are needed in Worsley Constituency.”

“I would urge those local parents affected by this to contact my constituency office on 0161 799 4159.”
