Barbara Keeley MP

LABOUR MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT FOR WORSLEY AND ECCLES SOUTH

Barbara visits Christ the King R.C. Primary School

Barbara was recently invited to visit Christ the King R.C. Primary School in Walkden to talk to year 6 pupils about the role of an MP.

Barbara talked about how she became an MP and about the constituency of Worsley and Eccles South. She also talked about how she was elected in 2005 and again in 2010 and about her weekly routine in Parliament and in the constituency.

Barbara said:

“It was great to visit the year 6 pupils and their class teacher, Ms Potts and to have such a lively Question and Answer session on being an MP and about Parliament.

“There was a lot of interest from the pupils who have been studying about Parliament and about campaigns by the Suffragettes, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jnr and about the Millennium Development Goals.

“It is very important that young people are taught about how Parliament works.  It was good to see Christ the King teaching the children about this subject in such an interesting way.”
