Barbara welcomes exceptional talent to Westminster

Barbara last week welcomed Aimee Backhouse, an outstanding triathlete and Head Girl at St George’s High School, to a Downing Street reception celebrating exceptional achievement in young people.

Barbara gave Aimee and her father Matt, who visited Westminster with Aimee, a tour of Parliament before accompanying her to Downing Street, where Aimee met Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

Barbara said:

Aimee is an outstanding talent. She trains very hard and is a keen competitor but doesn’t let her schoolwork suffer and is a great example to all young people in Salford. She is an impressive young woman and it was a pleasure to welcome her to Westminster and take her to meet the Prime Minister. She has a big future and we all hope it might lead to future medals and competition success for Aimee.”
