Barbara welcomes funding increase for local roads

headshotBarbara has welcomed the increase in Government funding for local road and small transport projects in the North West.

The increase will mean that there will be more than £23 million of Government funding for public transport in the North West, which works out at around £34 per head.

Barbara has been campaigning to improve public transport in Worsley and sees better roads as part of that.

She said:

"Extra funding for road maintenance and street lighting can help to make our roads safer. The government is starting to invest more in local transport and also to give more powers to the local authority and the transport authority. This should help the local authorities to negotatite better services with private transport providers.

“In future, I also want to see more and better bus services from First Bus and investment is also needed from Northern Rail to improve Walkden Train Station."
