Barbara Keeley MP

LABOUR MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT FOR WORSLEY AND ECCLES SOUTH

Barbara welcomes home Helmand heroes

Barbara attended the homecoming parade held in Salford to honour soldiers of the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, who recently returned home from a six-month tour of duty in Helmand province in Afghanistan.

Barbara said:

“I was honoured and very proud to be at the homecoming parade for the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers and to have the opportunity to thank the brave soldiers for their service in Afghanistan.

“It was wonderful to see so many people from Salford lining the streets, waving flags and giving our returning soldiers such a warm welcome. Such strong public support really does make a difference and shows how proud we all are of the Battalion.

“It was also a privilege to meet the parents of Fusilier Simon Annis who lost his life so heroically trying to save an injured colleague. Mr and Mrs Annis can be very proud of their son."
