Barbara backs Campaign by “The Christie Crew” to end Discrimination Against Cancer Kids

Barbara is backing a scheme led by young patients at Christie Hospital known as “The Christie Crew” to end discrimination by pubs and clubs against young cancer patients.

Under the scheme, young patients who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy or have mobility problems will be given ID cards by the hospital to stop them being turned away by pubs and nightclubs.

Barbara said:

“They are sometimes accused of being skinheads, or told they have to remove the hats to gain entry. Others who have to wear trainers are sometimes refused entry.

“These young people have enough to cope with without facing this kind of barrier.”
