Barbara congratulates Salford primary schools and pupils for improved test results

SATS Key Stage 2Barbara has congratulated primary schools in Salford for their improved Key Stage 2 test results for 11 year olds.

Provisional figures show that the number of Salford primary school pupils reaching the expected levels in Maths and Science has increased over the last year. This builds on the significant record of improvement in primary test results over the last decade.

The number of Salford pupils reaching Level 4 in Maths has increased by 22% since 1998. The number of pupils achieving Level 4 or higher in English has increased 16% over the same period. Salford pupils are also doing better in Science, with a 17% increase in pupils reaching the expected level.

Barbara said:

“I want to thank teachers, teaching assistants, governors, parents and pupils in Salford for all their hard work this year which has resulted in such excellent test results.

“These figures show the year-on-year improvement that has occurred in Salford primary schools thanks to record levels of Government investment over the last decade.

“With the Government now pledging one-to-one tuition for any children who fall behind in school, I’m sure there will be even more children in Salford reaching the expected levels in future.”
