Barbara criticises Electricity North West for taking six months to stop local power cuts

power cutBarbara has criticised Electricity North West for unacceptable delays in resolving the problem which caused recent power cuts in Boothstown and Ellenbrook. Barbara had questioned Electricity North West on the causes of recent power cuts, which left thousands of people in those areas without power twice within two weeks.

In response, Electricity North West have said that they now have a scheme to resolve the power cut problems but this would not be complete until August 2014.

Barbara said:

“The first power cut was a lengthy one and the second cut left a small number of households waiting until 2am to have power restored. In the depth of winter, people were left with no heating or hot water, unable to cook their evening meals and relying on candles for light.

Now Electricity North West are saying that works to remedy the causes of these power cuts will not be completed until August 2014. This is unacceptable and I am calling on the company to take more urgent action to ensure they fix this problem more quickly.”
