Barbara criticises Government as unemployment rises in Worsley and Eccles South

UnemploymentBarbara has spoken out about the reckless and damaging policies of the Conservative-led Government, after latest unemployment figures show that the number of people out of work in Worsley and Eccles South has continued to rise.

The number of people unemployed in Worsley and Eccles South in February 2013 was 3,477 with 975 young people being unemployed.  Both totals have risen since January 2013.  Unemployment in the North West has also increased by 3,000 in the last quarter.

Barbara said:

“The disastrous policies of this Government have caused growth to stall and are damaging our economy.  Families in Salford are struggling to make ends meet and many have lost their jobs or cut back on their hours of work.

“The Conservative-led Government is failing hardworking people and their families. We need a new plan for the economy now to reverse the damage caused by Government failure.  The economy needs to grow and we need to create jobs, not cut them.  We need action now before it is too late.”
