Barbara Keeley

LABOUR CANDIDATE FOR WORSLEY AND ECCLES SOUTH

Barbara honours those who served at Walkden Remembrance Day event

poppyBarbara joined local people, veterans’ organisations and local scouts, guides and cubs in Walkden to pay her respects on Remembrance Day to those have served in current and past conflicts and the two World Wars.

Councillor Bernard Pennington represented the Mayor at the Remembrance event and the Farnworth and Walkden Brass Band played at the service.

The Remembrance service started with a march from Walkden British Legion to St Paul’s, Walkden, where a service was held. This was followed by a shorter Remembrance service and the laying of wreaths at the War Memorial in Parr Fold Park.

Barbara said:

“It is right that we hold the services to remember the sacrifice that brave service men and women have given to our country across the years.

"The Remembrance services at Walkden were moving events and I was pleased that so many local people came to both the church service and the Memorial in Parr Fold Park to pay their respects."
