LABOUR CANDIDATE FOR WORSLEY AND ECCLES SOUTH

Barbara meets local scouts and visits Open Day at Middlewood Scout Camp

At the recent Salford Garden Party, Barbara gave prizes and medals to young people who had taken part in games and activities there.

Local scout leader, Michael Dunn invited Barbara to an Activity Day taking place for scout groups from Ellesmere Division at the Middlewood Scout Camp, Worsley. Barbara attended the Open Day and met scouts from Worsley groups and also groups from Irlam and Cadishead. The theme of the activities was Air - with scouts making rockets, firing bottles full of water, making model planes and windmills and also taking part in a welly-throwing contest.

Barbara said:

"The activities for the scouts at the Open Day were both fun and eduactional. Some of the rockets were going to be thrown quite high and there was a lot of learning about aerodynamics in the activities. It was great to meet the scouts and their leaders and volunteer helpers. Middlewood Scout Camp is a highly valuable resource to Scouts in in Worsley and also from Irlan and Cadishead. As MP for Worsley, I want to make sure that any planning applications made for the area presreve the right of the scouts to carry on using their camp and the open spaces around it."
