Barbara praises film made by Young Carers in partnership with The Lowry Theatre

Barbara has praised a film about the lives of young carers in Salford. The film was made by the Salford Young Carers service working in partnership with The Lowry theatre. The film features young carers in Salford and the actor Maxine Peake.

The film, titled “We’re not different, we just do different things”, was devised and written by the young carers themselves.  The film will now be used in schools to develop awareness of the issues faced by young carers.

Barbara said:

“I am very impressed by the film which captures the impact that caring has on the lives of young carers. The film features Salford young carers and the actor, Maxine Peake.

It is very well made and gets across some important messages about the impact of caring. I hope the film will be shown in schools but also shown to councillors and MPs, both in Salford and other parts of the country. It will be a great help in raising awareness of young carers and the issues they face and I congratulate Salford Young Carers for making the film.”
