Worsley and Eccles South MP Barbara Keeley took part in the City of Salford 10K Run in September to raise money for the Salford Advertiser’s Christie Appeal.
Barbara has raised £1,015 for the appeal by completing the run. The money raised will help fund the new Christie radiotherapy centre, which will be only the second in a network of centres where cancer patients from Salford and other local areas will be able to access first class radiotherapy treatments from Christie experts.
“I am pleased to have been able to raise over £1,000 for the appeal and am very grateful to everyone who sponsored me. The support I have received shows just how important the Christie is to local people.
“The run was about twice the distance I normally run so I was pleased to complete it. It was worth it to raise funds for such a good cause.
“Thanks again to everyone who sponsored me – local businesses, friends and family and Labour members and supporters. I would like to thank local businesses Tomkinson Homes Ltd, Akcros Chemicals Ltd, Creamline Dairies Ltd and Wilkinson Star, and thanks also to White Reclamation Ltd, Lowbury Construction Ltd and Greenoaks Ltd for their support. I would also like to thank all the individuals who made donations to help reach this great total.”
