Barbara slams the misrepresentation of her views on leaflet of Mayoral Yes Campaign

BK favourite photo - 250 wideBarbara has made it clear that she does not support the campaign for an elected Mayor in Salford. Barbara’s view is that Salford does not need an American-style City Boss. She also feels that forcing a costly referendum on local people at a time of Government budget cuts is a distraction from the important work the Council has in delivering local services.

Barbara has slammed a leaflet put out by the Mayoral Alliance that puts a picture of her next to a poster with a Vote Yes slogan, in a way that she feels misrepresents her views.

Barbara said:

“This leaflet by the Yes Campaign is misleading and it misrepresents my views. I have made clear that I do not support the campaign for an Elected Mayor in Salford and I support the Vote No Campaign.

“I want to make it absolutely clear that I do not support the idea of a directly-elected Mayor in Salford as I believe we do not need an American-style City Boss here. I would rather see scarce resources spent on local services than on holding this referendum.”
