Barbara welcomes new support for Armed Forces from the Labour Party

Labour Friends of the Forces1

Barbara attended the launch in Parliament of a new organisation, the Labour Friends of the Forces. This new organisation is dedicated to campaigning on the issues that matter to the Armed Forces, their families and the wider service community.

Labour Friends of the Forces will have a network of people who will consult with military communities and give them information on the key services available to serving personnel and veterans. It will also give members updates on defence debates in Westminster and throughout the country and give military communities a chance to shape the work of Labour’s defence team

Barbara said:

“I support the Military Covenant and Labour will campaign tirelessly to uphold and strengthen it. This is the agreement between the nation and the Services that no one should be disadvantaged in the provision of public services if they have been in our Forces. I will continue to work hard to ensure the government delivers on the Military Covenant for all those in Salford to whom it applies.

“I also support Labour Friends of the Forces, which will run campaigns that matter to the military community based on their concerns and needs."
