Barbara welcomes news that apprenticeships in Salford have doubled

ApprenticeshipsBarbara has welcomed the release of new figures showing that the number of people completing apprenticeships in Worsley constituency has doubled over the last four years.

News of the increase comes as people across the UK have been celebrating the revival of apprenticeships as part of Apprenticeship Week.

Barbara said:

“The doubling of the number of apprenticeships completed locally shows the growth in the size and skill of the workforce in Salford. This is an encouraging sign during difficult economic times and I would like to congratulate everyone in Salford who has completed an apprenticeship in the last few years.

“Apprenticeships are a great way to make progress for young people and adults who want practical on-the-job training. One of the staff working in my constituency office is an apprentice and I can see the real benefits apprenticeships bring.

“I strongly support the Government’s plans to introduce a right to an apprenticeship place for every young person who wants one. It’s important we keep investing in skills and training to support jobs for young people in Salford.”
