ITV Trainees visit Westminster with Barbara

Around twenty trainees took part in the day, designed to give them an insight into how the political world interacts with the media environment.

Barbara and the ITV Granada Political Correspondent, Rishi Bhattacharya, hosted a joint question and answer session at Portcullis House, Westminster - at which some challenging questions were raised about how politicians and journalists deal with one another.

Later, the group travelled to the Department of Culture, Media and Sport to meet with Minister for Broadcasting and Creative Arts, James Purnell MP, to discuss ways in which the government was helping to encourage diversity in the media.

To finish the day, the group was taken to Downing Street, where the group were able to enjoy a visit to the heart of government.
