Barbara is supporting the Guide Dogs ‘Streets Ahead’ campaign. This campaign calls for comprehensive pavement parking laws to be rolled out across the UK, to protect guide dogs and their owners.

Barbara attended an event in Parliament where she met owners and guide dogs and discussed the problems that people living with sight loss face when they travel independently.

Barbara said:

“It is important that people living with sight loss feel confident and independent when they travel. Vehicles parked on pavements can put people living with sight loss in danger if they are forced to walk out into the road to get round cars blocking their path. They can also cause problems for people in wheelchairs and parents with buggies.”

“The current laws on pavement parking are incomplete, leaving drivers unsure of where they can and cannot park. We need to introduce comprehensive pavement parking laws across the UK.”

“I want to see that the streets and roads in Worsley and Eccles South are safe for everyone in our community. This is why I continue to support the Guide Dogs ‘Streets Ahead’ campaign to introduce safer pavement parking laws.”
