Pupil James Brindley wins Barbara's Christmas card design competition

Rosie Pollard, aged 10, of James Brindley Primary School, Walkden received her prize this morning (16.12.2005) in a full assembly of the children, staff and governors.

The competition was open to all primary schools across the Worsley constituency. There were over three hundred and fifty entries from the eleven primary schools that took part.

The runner-up prizes went to Robyn Seddon, Year 6 of Mesne Lea Primary School, Walkden, and to Louise Chan, Year 6 of Bedford Hall Methodist Primary School, Leigh.

Barbara said:

“I wanted my first Christmas Card as Worsley MP to be a special one, so I invited local schools to take part in a competition to design the card.

“Congratulations to Rosie Pollard, of James Brindley Primary School, for her winning design. Thanks also to all pupils who took part in the competition, and to the staff who worked with them on it.

“We had over three hundred entries from eleven local primary schools and the standard was very high, it was hard to choose a winner, but Rosie’s design stood out."

Barbara, Headteacher Mrs Ward and Chair of Governors Councillor Bernard Pennington cheer Rosie's award.
