Salford Primary Care Worker visits Number 10 with Barbara

Barbara recently took Julia Ellis, a Primary Care Liaison Worker at the Princess Royal Trust Salford Carer’s Centre, to meet the Prime Minister and Sarah Brown at Number 10 Downing Street. The reception was held to honour community heroes from across the UK.

Salford Carers Centre provides vital support to local carers and also runs a young carer’s project offering advice, activities and one-to-one support for young carers. Julia’s role involves working with GPs, staff at Salford Royal Hospital, local pharmacists and others within the NHS to ensure carers are identified and referred for help, advice and support.

Barbara said:

“Julia and the staff at The Princess Royal Trust Salford Carers Centre do a great job supporting and helping carers in Worsley and Eccles South and throughout Salford.

“I think the work Julia does in working within Primary Care and with Salford Royal Hospital to identify carers is really important. If carers are not identified they can struggle alone, whereas there is much help, advice and support from which they can benefit if they know about it.

“It was a pleasure to be able to introduce Julia and her husband to the Prime Minister and Sarah Brown and to tell the Prime Minister about the great work being done by Salford Carer’s Centre.”
