Barbara recently visited Tesco in Irlam to campaign for respect for retail staff as part of USDAW’s ‘Freedom From Fear’ Campaign.

The campaign aims to prevent violence, threats and abuse directed at retail staff.

Barbara joined the staff and the Store Manager at Tesco to help raise awareness of the issues that retail staff can face at work.

Barbara said:

“I am pleased to support USDAW’s Freedom from Fear campaign. It was good to meet staff at Tesco in Irlam and to support them in the campaign on respect for retail staff.  

Too often retail staff are confronted with violence, threats and abuse and it is really important that we ask people to respect staff who work in retail especially as we approach the busy Christmas shopping period and the Black Friday sales.

“I will continue to support USDAW’s campaign to give retail staff the support they need on this issue. Abusing or assaulting staff who are serving the public is unacceptable.”
