Barbara has expressed her shock and appealed for help from the community following the shooting of a 7-year old boy and his mother at their home in Winton.

The incident follows a number of other shootings that have taken place in other areas of Salford but unlike most of those which targeted houses, a child and his mother were victims of the armed assault.

The escalating violence has been linked to feuding among armed gangs that are seeking to settle disputes. Local police are investigating the shooting incidents and are calling for help from the local community for information on those responsible for seriously injuring the son and his mother.

Barbara said:

“It is shocking to hear that a mother and her young son were the victims of a shooting at their home in Winton last night. We have had other shooting incidents recently but most have been targeted at houses not directly at people.

It is deeply concerning that the shots were fired at a mother and young child and I know how much this worries parents living locally.

Greater Manchester Police are working hard to investigate this shocking incident as well as the other recent shootings in Little Hulton and other local areas but they need help from the local community to find those who are responsible.

Someone must know where guns are being held and that they are being used.  Anyone with any information can pass it on anonymously by calling Police on 0161 856 5470 or 101, or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
