Barbara presented Mr Lawrence Manning from Walkden with a Veterans Badge for his service in the Armed Forces during the Second World War.

HM Armed Forces Veterans Badges were introduced in 2004 to recognise the service of those who have served in the armed forces and the Badge can be worn on civilian attire.

Barbara said:

“It was a privilege to present Mr Manning with his Veterans Badge and to talk to him about his service.

“This year marks the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War, and the 75th anniversary of the start of the Second World War.

“Britain owes all servicemen and women a debt of gratitude for their service in the armed forces to keep our country safe and secure. The Veterans Badge is one way in which we thank former service men and women for their service and for the contribution they have made to our country.”
