Barbara recently joined Andy Burnham MP, the City Mayor, local councillors and City West Housing Trust at the launch of Amblecote Gardens, a new Extra Care facility in Little Hulton.

Amblecote Gardens is the first Extra Care scheme to be built in Salford since 2009 and is the first in the country to be developed using the Homes and Communities Agency’s new Care and Support Specialised Fund, which was established to encourage the construction of more facilities for vulnerable people.

Barbara said:

“I was pleased to attend the launch of Amblecote Gardens.

“Amblecote Gardens is a good example of the kind of facilities that are needed to support people as they get older.

“Amblecote Gardens will allow residents to enjoy living independently in the privacy of their own homes, but they will also have the reassurance of care and support from a dedicated on-site team when they need it.

“We need more schemes like this to make sure that older generations have a secure place to live. By improving links between health service and housing provision we can ease the pressure on the NHS and local care providers, helping people live independent lives for longer.”
