At the General Election on Thursday 12th December 2019, Barbara was re-elected as the Member of Parliament for Worsley and Eccles South.

Barbara was first elected as the MP for Worsley in 2005. The new constituency of Worsley and Eccles South was created in 2010 and Barbara was elected as its Member of Parliament in the 2010 General Election – she was re-elected in 2015, 2017 and 2019.

The Worsley and Eccles South constituency includes Barton, Boothstown and Ellenbrook, Cadishead, Irlam, Little Hulton, Walkden, Winton and Worsley.

Barbara said:

I am honoured to have been re-elected as the MP for Worsley and Eccles South. I look forward to representing everyone in the constituency and working hard for them in Parliament.

“Nationally this election result was disappointing for Labour and we now have the task of learning serious lessons from it and rebuilding ourselves as a strong Opposition to the current Government with the aim of becoming a viable alternative at the next General Election whenever it comes.”
