Samaritans is running its ‘Brew Monday’ fundraising initiative for its fourth consecutive year and helping people turn the winter blues into brews.

Samaritans is encouraging supporters to come together over a cup of tea throughout February. Supporters can use the get-togethers to check on those who might be feeling lonely and also raise vital funds for the charity, which will in turn give people having a tough time somewhere to turn when they need to talk.  A donation of as little as £5 can help Samaritans answer a call from someone struggling to cope.

On 3rd February Barbara joined the Samaritans in Parliament for tea and biscuits and to hear about the work the Samaritans does for suicide prevention and they gave her tips on how people can become better listeners.

Barbara said:

Human connection is so important in helping us look after our emotional wellbeing.

In the cold winter months, any Monday can be a Brew Monday. It could help to save a life.”
