The Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, has launched the multi-agency Greater Manchester COVID-19 Committee.

The Committee will coordinate the response to COVID-19 between statutory agencies, private and voluntary sector; outline action already being taken at Greater Manchester level to deal with COVID-19 and advocate Greater Manchester’s voice to Government on local societal and economic impact.

The Committee will also be identifying what activity is happening locally, where the gaps are, looking at what gaps can be filled at Greater Manchester level and what gaps the Government needs to fill.

Offering support to communities and businesses

Alongside the first Greater Manchester COVID-19 Committee meeting, Greater Manchester has launched two websites to help support people and businesses across Greater Manchester.

Volunteergm.org is a website to provide community support and advice to any residents who are struggling to access basic or essential services during the Coronavirus outbreak.

The website also provides information on how people can volunteer across each of the ten districts by linking them to local volunteering opportunities.

The Greater Manchester Growth Company has a dedicated websitewith information and advice for business during the COVID-19 outbreak, including a webinar series.
