Barbara collected a bravery award for Alan Henning at a local radio community awards ceremony in Bolton.

The Tower FM Awards recognise people from the Bolton and Bury areas who are local heroes. This year, the station received an overwhelming number of nominations for Alan Henning to be awarded the Act of Bravery award posthumously. Barbara collected the award on behalf of Alan Henning’s family.

Barbara said:

“I am glad that so many people nominated Alan Henning for this award. It is one of the many ways in which people locally and nationally have shown their appreciation for his sacrifice and selflessness in taking aid to children and families in need in Syria.

“Making this Act of Bravery award to Alan Henning recognizes that the communities across Greater Manchester rightly see him as the brave and selfless man he was and I would like to thank Tower FM for making the award.”
