I met renal patient John Roberts from Irlam at an event at Westminster for National Transplant Week. I pledged my support for the #spellitout campaign which asks donors to “spell out” their wish to be an organ donor.

For people like John, waiting for an organ donation, increasing the number of people in Salford and nationally who join the NHS Organ Donor Register is vitally important. I have been on the Organ Donor Register for many years as I want others to live after my death.

10,000 people in the UK currently need a life-changing organ transplant and I hope that many people in Salford will “spell out” their wish to be an organ donor.
