Barbara is welcoming the news of a public meeting to be held to allow residents in her constituency to talk about issues with the road works on the A580. Many residents have complained to Barbara and to Urban Vision about long delays to their journey times caused by road works on the A580 East Lancashire Road. She understands that works connected to the Busway may now run until August 2015.

Barbara asked Transport for Greater Manchester and Urban Vision to set up a public meeting to allow local people to talk about the problems they are having and to ask questions about the way the road works are being done. The planned meeting is to be held on Saturday 29th November from 11am to 1pm at Harrop Fold School, Hilton Lane, Walkden.

“I am pleased that my call for a meeting to talk about the roadworks on the A580 is being met. I think that local people need the chance to talk about issues they are having with their journeys due to the road works on the A580 and surrounding roads.

I have never supported the Busway project as I feel it is a scheme of very limited value for the costs involved in the project. However, I do believe it is important that the agencies involved in this scheme understand the impact their works are having on people and do whatever they can to minimise that impact. I hope this meeting helps that to happen.”
