As required by the Electoral Administration and Registration Act 2013 compulsory reviews of parliamentary polling districts and polling places must take place every 5 years reflecting the Fixed Term Parliament Act 2011.

Therefore, Salford City Council is reviewing its polling districts and polling stations.

A Polling District is defined as the geographical area created by sub-dividing a constituency/ward.

A Polling Place is defined as a designated area (eg: a designated building) for a polling district in which polling stations are located.

In reviewing its Polling Districts and Polling Places, the Council must ensure that:-

  • Electors have such reasonable facilities for voting as are practicable in the circumstances; and
  • As far as is reasonable and practicable, that polling places are accessible to all electors, including those who are disabled, and when designating a polling place, have regard to the accessibility needs of disabled persons

there are also displays in the main reception areas at Salford Civic Centre, Chorley Road, Swinton, Broughton Hub, each of the Neighbourhood offices and Gateway Centres.

Electors within the Salford authority area may make representations to this review. The deadline for submissions is 4:30pm on 27th September 2019.
